Who I am
About
Background
I'm a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) with over 20 years of experience in finance including pensions, insurance and investments. I have lived and worked in the Netherlands for 11 years.
Why I write
Expats in the Netherlands often face genuinely complex financial situations — pensions from multiple countries, cross-border inheritance questions, Dutch tax rules that interact in unexpected ways with foreign assets. I find the subject interesting, it overlaps with my own life, and writing about it helps me think more clearly about it.
The articles here are general-interest pieces on topics I've researched or come across. They are not advice and are not directed at any particular person's situation.
About this site
This site is a personal writing project — I am not registered with the Autoriteit Financiële Markten (AFM), do not offer financial advisory services, and do not accept clients through it.
I am studying toward Dutch Wft qualifications with a view to establishing the practice in future. If and when that happens, this site will change to reflect it. For now, it is simply where I write.
